Where I Don't Belong
-written by Will Hall
-appears on Autumn (1998)

THE STORY:
Recorded on a chilly and dry Autumn evening.  Dead leaves crunching under combat boots while we snuck studio time in a impersonal and unwelcoming basement.   My excema was at its worst and between vocal takes I’d sneak away to a bathroom and itch itch itch until the floor and my hands were covered in blood.  I never told anyone at the time…just how in pain I was.  This song was written by my friend Will.  I didn’t have to speak of my trouble he said it for me.

THE LYRICS:

Sometimes seasons feel so long
Sometimes I feel I don't belong
Sometimes I wonder if I'm wrong
Can I not just go on?

I have a feeling i don't know
I didn't know where i should go
There's times I just wanna be alone
Find out some things on my own

Chorus:
And everyday just goes on
Sometimes it all feels so wrong
I guess I knew it a along
There's places where I just
Where I just don't belong

Sometimes the truth is hard to find
And when you do it is unkind
Well I guess I just left it all behind
Try again some other time

I thought I'd leave the past behind
But it won't seem to leave my mind
Now I don't notice what I find
But I know I've got to try.
