Two Boys Dreaming
-written by Jeremy Gloff

THE STORY:
Late one night in a deserted parking lot off a deserted street in a deserted town I watched my friends skateboarding.  Rowdy rough-around-the-edges boys.  We all came from troubled families but we also had a sense of freedom.  That moment felt so special and important.   It was the glory of our youth.

THE LYRICS:

Two boys…they’re not brothers
They’re not lovers either
Doing what they do
And doing what they do best
And being what I could never be…

This is the fire to their flame
Their religion…their board
And watching is my reward
Recapture past glory retell the old story
Doing what they do best
Being what I could never be

They stand above me and I see them for who they are
Their bible the board
The ramp the religion
The anger the fears
Their doubts the tears
All did beneath the smile
The man lets out his child.

And I usually see them in intoxication
But I see purification now
This is what my piano is to me
And now I see you differently
Now I see you doing…doing what you do best
Now I see you being what I could never be
(Masculinity)

No longer a drunk no longer a child
Across the ramp they let themselves wild
And for a moment I see as they do…
I could never do what you do
I could never feel what you feel
But for a moment your shell disappears
And you become real…
