Revelation

THE STORY:
Lyrical angst from the tortured and troubled. The “never to be not you not me” passage was a direct tribute to my favorite album at the time--Stevie Nicks’ STREET ANGEL.
THE LYRICS:
I base my whole life on what you think
And I know you never think of me
I know this song has been written a million
times
And over half those times were by me
I’d let you cry on my shoulder
And I’d let you lay on top of me
The only thing that I won’t let you do
Is break free from me
I’m starting to hate myself
You make me feel ugly
You say that I’m crazy
But you’re the one that needs therapy
I don’t think you’ve ever been in love
Because you want me to change my mind
Well if I kick myself in the head
All I would get is a bruise
One time I had control over you
But now I’m beginning to lose
I’m starting to hate you
I am not ugly
Sometimes I wish you would die
Because you’re killing me
(Never to be…not you not me)
I’ve seen a revelation
Love is ugly
Someday both of us will die
And none of this will matter
Someday all of us will die
And none of this will have mattered
