THE STORY:
After one of my most tortured all-nighters I wrote a song. And then the sun was all the way up and I wrote another song. That second song is “Hollow Bodies”. This song was about a boy from Buffalo and my increasing ambivalence regarding sex. Re: The remix version. I had great ideas for a performance art piece to go along with that version. It never happened.
THE LYRICS:
Did you really call?
I know that you did
I wanna do
What I forbid
Blinded by the rain
At least I’m not outside
I go to someone else
When I wanna hide
I kinda wish you were a stranger…
Chorus:
Hollow bodies
Touching…distant
Hollow bodies
Why do I do this to me?
Are cars really made
To drive in this rain?
Are bodies really made
To handle the pain
I cause to myself…thru myself
Undo myself…to please myself
I know you never wanna know me
I know you’re only here to show me
How shallow I can be when I go deep
Does this ever haunt you when you sleep?
Repeat Chorus
Hollow bodies
I can’t breathe…breathing
