Gloff's
third cassette, now re-released on
CD
with the rest of his back catalog, was the first one he made after
moving
into his own apartment and coming out of the closet. "This new-found
freedom, coupled with the claustrophobia of living in a small New York
farm
town,
made this album edgier than the previous two," writes Jeremy in his
very
informative online discography. That becomes clear
immediately, as Heavy Machinery
opens with a burst of sputtering electric noise and the urgent loathing
of "Almost Sunday": "And all I wanna do Is make you hate me Then maybe
you will not violate me I climb on top of you And then you rape me."
Tough
stuff, but Gloff's songs are rarely an easy ride.
