Dirty World We're In
-written by Jeremy Gloff
-appears on America Is Lonely Tonight (2001)

THE STORY:
I drove far into the suburbs to pick up a boy that reminded me of someone I loved years ago.  We had sex and after seeing me naked he told me I needed to lose weight.  He's hiding in this song.

THE LYRICS:

The sky’s a burning ember
Too hot for the sun
Cashing in my ticket
To the darker one
In a lipstick ocean white light
Makes a facelift fade
Cellular unity and people
Never been this frayed

Things have gotten too polite
But danger still resides
Under demeanor
Where nigger and faggot hides
There is rashes, blurry vision
Chemotherapy
A nose that’s full of bullshit
And a lonely me

Chorus:
It would take a miracle to raise me
Things are getting hot below the skin
Looking for the problem to save me
It’s a dirty world we’re in

The boiling’s getting hotter
Counterculture splits
My political correctness
Ended with the shits
The youth’s too homogenized
For mental anarchy
I just want a fellow decadent
To sleep by me…

Repeat Chorus
I just wanted you to save me…
