The Story:
AMERICA
IS LONELY TONIGHT was my 11th release and I rediscovered the piano
after four guitar albums. My personal life maintained its shakiness but
I found comfort and inspiration in the music of Emmylou Harris. You can
hear shades of her twang throughout these tracks.
Many of these songs are frank explorations of my descent into the dark
and numbing world of gay internet hookups. The circumstantial
pyschological damage from this lifestyle can mute ones spirit. There's
a lot of self-hatred and confusion throughout these songs. But there's
also wistful childhood recollections a songs about friends.
At the time I was still fresh and hopeful in my new city. I invited in
some of the area's best local artists to share these songs with
me. Although AMERICA IS LONELY TONIGHT dealt with some weighty stuff I still find a lot of magic in these songs.
