Afraid Too

THE STORY:
There was a girl in my apartment who was grating.  A friend of a friend.  Instead of withstanding her awful company I went outside and sat on the hood of my car.  I talked to stray cats and wrote this song in my head  (based on a tune I'd written in high school).

THE LYRICS:
( I saw you)
Winter 2002
(I asked you)
The first time that I noticed you
(You ran out)
Summer 2003
(You ran out)
Divide your life multiply by two with me

Chorus:
(Seeing where I stand)
Twirling through the constellations...
(You’ve got the upper hand)
The vibrancy of nighttime America...
(Seeing where I stand)
Here’s what I’ve always wanted
And I feel like you
I’m afraid too

(Trying to convince you)
Winter it was so cold
(Trying to convince you)
Well I’d love to watch your face grow old
(Don’t shut me out)
Record rain fell last year
(Don’t shut me out)
Hairlines race to disappear my love

Repeat Chorus

It’s all about compassion
Nervous eyes that meet
Then look away
I know what I wanted in my life
But I never say what I mean to say
Been granted ownership to the block you’ve been around?
Might be time to settle down my baby!

To find it in one person
It’s what I’ve always wanted
In my imagination
